Welcome to 2009!
I am back in the office after a short holiday break.
We are looking forward to 2009 being an exciting year at the sanctuary.
This year education at the Brook will be involved with the national EMAP programme (link on left) to monitor and assess the status and trends of our national ecological resources. As apart of this programme visiting classes can take part in recording data from our soon to be established weather stations. This data will be entered into a national system and be available for a variety of uses for scientists and schools!
Working with us again this year will be Waimaori Stream care who we worked with a lot in 2008 and also Roger Waddel who is the local man on the ground for EMAP (as well as a few other things!).
We will be looking for input for the development of units of work for primary and secondary students to go along with this monitoring as well as other aspects of biodiversity at the Brook.
